Start With The End In Mind And Win Big In Life

I believe the most potent tool to achieve greatness is to start with the end in mind. Clearly defining the end state helps you to gauge what you do, how you do it and why you do it. When you are crystal clear about where you want to go, it becomes easier to set goals.

When at a crossroad, many people find themselves lost and faced with multiple directions not knowing which one to take.

Not sure which direction to take?

Unfortunately, most people go through life lost, serving the interests and expectations of others. They follow the crowd and after many years of work and toil, they realise that their ladder was leaning against the wrong wall. They lack direction and allow expectations of others to interfere with their future.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend, *Thabo who is in his early thirties. This friend had a dilemma about the direction he wanted his life to take. What he knew at that stage is that he wanted to be like me.

Wow, I was honoured but not impressed for his sake. We worked on his ideal destination, his life story, strengths and ultimately, he defined what resonates with him which was far from motivational speaking.

He could have easily followed a path that was not his and became frustrated for a life time.

Just like my friend *Thabo, I recommend that you follow these tips:

# Start with the end in mind:

You need to know where you are going to determine the best route. Other people will not be able to support you until you know where you are going. You also need to find a place where you can be yourself, know where you are at this moment and determine where you want to go in life.

#Reframe the story of your life:

What happened in your life might be sad and horrible however it does not define your future. It should give you the impetus to become the better you.

This reminds me of the story of Grizelda Grootboom, the author of the book Exit. She was subjected to human trafficking and homelessness, but she ultimately survived it all.

Today she uses her story to craft a plan against human trafficking at a global level and to empower women in general.

Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have 24 hour days” Zig Ziglar

#Follow your path

Now that you reframed your story, go there. I guarantee you, there will be noise and challenges along the way, however you will need to follow your path. In the words of Diane Grant, “it’s better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction”
