It is that time of the year when most people will be taking a break from their work. Many will be visiting family and friends, some will be taking holidays within or outside the borders of the country. It is during this time that many gifts will be exchanged. The sad part is that we gift everyone else but ourselves. Even if we were to get ourselves a gift, it is usually in the form of a physical object.
There’s nothing wrong about it, however here’s the thing, have you ever considered giving yourself a lifelong gift?
The sad part is that year in and year out, people carry anger, hate, envy, frustration, jealousy and cover them in colourful wrappings. These are recycled over years and what changes is the colour of the wrapping, but the contents remain the same.
We then stand back and decry lack of progress in our lives.
This time, I encourage you to take the old gift box and burn it with all the negative contents. In its place, get the new box for the year 2018 with the following gifts inside:
Hope is being able to see light at the end of the tunnel. It is about saying to yourself, Hold On Pain Ends. You have the ability to stop the revolving door of self-inflicted pain and reclaim your power. I like the words of George Washington Carver who said, “where there’s no vision, there’s no hope”. Develop an inspiring vision and restore hope for your life.
The main reason most people do not go ahead in life is because they do not believe in themselves. This is important because everything starts with self. We allow fear and doubt to push us from pillar to post within our minds. It is time to delete the negative self-talk and move towards accomplishment of your aspirations.
Love conquers all and I believe you need to fill your heart with love to the brim so that there’s no space left for hatred. This should be the greatest weapon to disarm your enemies. When they attack with disdain, respond with love and you will realise overtime that it will rub off even on your enemies.
Gratitude is a quality of being thankful and showing recognition and appreciation for self and others. There are great things we are doing daily for ourselves but also for others that we should acknowledge. By demonstrating gratitude, we invite happiness to ourselves but also allow others to grow. In the words of William Ward, “feeling gratitude and not expressing it, is like wrapping a present and not giving it”. Gratitude only flourishes when it is shared.
Enjoy the festivities during this time, never lose focus and come back invigorated for 2018. Stop punching below your weight because you have what it takes to become a wonderful gift to the world.
We are grateful for your support in 2017, it has been phenomenal. Looking forward to empowering lives further in 2018.
