During my coaching sessions, most people talk about being stuck and not knowing what to do about their lives. This is not something peculiar, we all seem to come to this point in some area of our lives in one way or the other.
The difference is the choice we make to remain stuck or to do something about it.
One of the main reasons most of us feel lost is that we work on everything else but ourselves. We are quick to define the things we want to do; we immerse ourselves in work and other distractions with the hope that when all is done, our challenges will have disappeared.
To move on in life and become unstuck means initiating change. The reality is that change is an inside job, it starts with you. This will not happen until you work on the most important ingredient that will take care of the rest and that is “YOU”.
Anything that you need in life starts with the individual. This could either be a need to achieve financial freedom, becoming a specialist in an area of choice or becoming a person of influence.
Tom Ziglar was right when he said that “change starts with you, but it doesn’t start until you do”. It is not a matter of external circumstances and what others do to you. George Bernard Shaw put it wisely when he said that “people are always blaming circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstance. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them”.
To have the circumstances you need and initiate the change, you need to start at the beginning. You need to start by developing a personal vision which is the desired future supported by a strong purpose. This will start to give you more focus, energy, and determination to become the person you want to be. This is about taking your leadership position in your life. If you do not do this, you will remain stuck in fear, anxiety and discouragement while watching your deserved future evaporate into thin air.
Your personal vision should be supported by a set of values and believes to bring it to reality. Lack of values or not living by your values is the best way to betray your truth. You need your values to guide your behaviour, to determine how you prioritise your time and how you achieve integration in various areas of your life.
Your life will transform only if these areas are in alignment but also if you are open to learning. You will need to find the best ways to soak yourself in various ways of learning that challenge your perspective. The change will continue to happen, and you will not be intimidated by new truths and new circumstances.
